It is so much better live. Mikkey is extremely talented. Another amazing drummer to me is The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold. Given his age he was definitely way past his time. Lars is not very good and I can’t believe the direction Metallica is going with their music. I was disgusted with their new CD called Lulu and Death Magnetic wasn’t very good. Each album from them gets worse.
@praisecamwise it really is true. i would only add Paul Mazurkiewicz from Cannibal Corpse to that list, but that’s really about it in terms of metal “history.” Lars was always a hack, no matter how many good songs Metallica made, and real metal aficionados know this.

No comparison between Lars and Mikkey. Mikkey didn’t give up after the 80′s. After Master of Puppets Lars got lazy. Black for the most part sucked as far as his drumming is concerned. Mikkey is in FUCKIN MOTORHEAD. nough said.
@adamfinspain Mikkey is technically gifted and has practiced his trade for years, Lars has never taken a single lesson, is all self taught, has wierd technique and hasnt practiced much after load mid 90′s era, AJFA has some great lars drumming that was last album he drummed well.

stop talking shit about Lars. you people call yourselves metal fans? hes one of my influences. so is Micky Dee. so is Lombardo. i fully support all drummers equally. this is Motorhead. not Metallica nor Slayer. they play thrash metal. this is rock n roll.

@Tonyr67 mickey blows me away, hes killer. but its all very 4/4. hes not close to the best metal drummer out there. bobby jarzombek, marco minnimen, mangini, priester,,,,, theres tons better. but for straight ahead balls out in your face, this is great.

seen hammerfall 4 times,metallicas ulrich 7 times niel pert 5. no bone has the corrdination or the stamina like md. besides pert. ulrich would have exhausted his ox tank. no comparison to herrfalls drummer. the “D” is better without all the noise and banging.yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!
